Hendrik Petrus Berlage
Sergio Polano, Giovanni Fanelli, Vincent Van Rossem
Active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Hendrik Petrus Berlage was an outstanding personality in twentieth-century Dutch architecture. His designing career consisted of extraordinary constructive achievements: the Amsterdam Stock Market, which recaptures romanesque forms by the austere simplicity of its volumes and its use of exposed brick; urbanistic plans for Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, based on highly unitary compositional designs in open contrast with contemporary trends; as well as extremely controversial works such as the Christian Science church and the City Museum of The Hague. The book fills in the gaps in the architect's bibliography, focusing on the less explored areas, and offers a systematic index along with a catalogue of his writings, an ample selection of archive images and a largely unpublished photographic survey.

Inside Outside - Petra Blaisse
Kayoko Ota (ed.) en Petra Blaisse (text); essays from Sanford Kwinter, Cecil Balmond, Renz van Luxemburg, Gaston Bekkers,Chris Dercon et al.
The Dutch interior and landscape designer Petra Blaisse is an outstanding creator who insists on new and more ambitious roles for landscape and interior architecture. On her own and in collaboration with city planners and architects such as Tim Ronalds, SANAA/Kazuyo Sejima, Macken & Macken, OMA/Rem Koolhaas, Michael Maltzan, Blaisse intervenes in important projects in Europe, Asia and the United States.
Blaisse's work challenges architecture's rigidity and severity by developing more mutable and fluid solutions, both inside and outside. This is how Blaisse turns what is often treated as an afterthought into an almost overpowering experience.
The full range of her work will be introduced to the public in this book. It contains documentation of several important projects, a conversation between the editor Kayoko Ota and Petra Blaisse, and essays by several renowned authors. The book will be illuminating to architects, engineers and designers of all disciplines and has the potential to give new impetus to the whole architectural field.

Prototypes. The Work of cepezed
Piet Vollaard
In the past few decades, cepezed has gained renown with transparent, sustainable and technologically progressive architecture that is remarkably usable and humane. Unaffected design, sober but stylish materialization, and careful finishing are just as characteristic of Cepezed’s oeuvre as the integration of spatial and construction-technical aspects.
The design and building processes at cepezed are also integrated: the use of prefab components and the application of industrial building methods guarantee an optimum alignment of design and realization, in which time, quality, and costs are meticulously planned and controlled.
Prototypes documents a large number of key projects and deals extensively with the various aspects of product development, building process and architecture.
Paperback / 264 pages / text English / 2007
Also available in Dutch edition and two volume cassette (incl. overview catalogue of 30 years Cepezed).

P.J.H. Cuypers 1827-1921. The Complete Works
Jan Bank, Hetty Berens, Loes van Harrevelt, Ida Jager, Barbara Laan, Wilfred van Leeuwen, Jan De Maeyer, David Mulder, Mariet Willinge
Rarely has a Dutch architect been such a defining factor for the impression of an era than the Roermond-born architect Pierre Cuypers (18271921). It is not only the famous edifices such as the Rijksmuseum and the Central Station in Amsterdam that have been fixed in the national consciousness; his many Catholic churches with their neo-Gothic towers are also inseparably associated with the image of Dutch cities and villages.
This book is the definitive overview of the oeuvre of the most influential fin-de-siècle architect in the Netherlands.

Frits van Dongen / Designing for Culture Bouwen voor cultuur
Els Brinkman, Fred Feddes, Allard Jolles
The architecture of Frits van Dongen is ’restrained and exuberant, tough and glamorous’, according to the jury who awarded him the 2006 BNA Cube for his remarkable array of cultural buildings. De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, the Pathé Cinema and Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam Zuidoost and the Philharmonie in Haarlem are already in place. The Amsterdam Conservatorium and Tagrijn pop music venue in Hilversum will follow shortly. Though they differ in terms of function and siting, Van Dongen has made of each one a festive affair, with behind the scenes a most efficient and user-friendly logistics structure. Besides the projects listed above, this book documents five competition designs for a museum in Venlo, a theatre in Hoorn, a cultural plaza in Hoofddorp, a concert hall in Bochum and a cinema in Liège. Fred Feddes and Allard Jolles contribute a joint essay on Van Dongen’s oeuvre.

Situation / KCAP Architects & Planners
Kees Christiaanse, Han van den Born, Ruurd Gietema, Irma van Oort
The Dutch architect and urban planner Kees Christiaanse and his bureau KCAP conceive and realize exceptional concepts and designs in the fields of urban planning and architecture, and at the interface between the two. In the space of 15 years, KCAP Architects & Planners has grown into an internationally active bureau with an impressive built oeuvre in the Netherlands and beyond. KCAP's broad field of work includes large-scale urban and landscape planning, complex inner city transformations and designing buildings.
In recent years, the attention for the future development of European cities has shifted towards the regeneration and restructuring of urban areas, including inner cities. KCAP has realized pioneering work in this area: at former dockland and industrial locations and in the waterfront areas along important rivers. With highly distinctive concepts, KCAP acts as supervisor, urban planner or architect within these settings.
This wide-ranging book represents the first in-depth survey and analysis of KCAP's most important projects.
